Objective

To create a device for one of two clients, both who are disabled in different ways. The prototype must be something that would feasibly benefit their life and be an asset to their day-to-day activities.

Summary

The client, Tim, currently has concerns about sensing the temperature of the water from his sink. Our solution was to create a faucet thermometer that audibly notifies the client when the water temperature exceeds 40 degrees. This is the ideal temperature for injury due to hot water. Our final prototype will include a coding component used by an Arduino/sensors, a CAD component, and a materials selection done by Granta EduPack. There is a box containing all the wires and Arduino kit, a temperature sensor with a metal conductor tip that runs under water, and lastly a clip to secure the wire onto the faucet.

Our Project Gantt Chart

It was important to curate a Gantt Chart during the planning process of the project to organize and strategize how the work will be divided and completed. Each milestone was an imperative building block to reach the final products. The milestones were also divided between the Modelling sum - team and the Coding sub - team. My focus was on Coding, CAD Modelling, and Granta EduPack therefore, I will be showcasing my contributions to each milestone.
